Is ImgDescribe free?▾
Yes. Describing images, generating alt text, and image-to-prompt are all free. There's a fair-use limit of 8 analyses per day per visitor to keep it free and prevent abuse.
Do I need to sign up?▾
No account, no email, no credit card. Upload an image and get your result.
Are my images stored?▾
No. Your image is sent to our server only for the few seconds it takes to analyze it, then discarded. We do not store, log, or share your images. Large images are also downscaled in your browser before upload.
What can it do?▾
Three modes: (1) Describe — a detailed plain-language description; (2) Alt Text — concise, accessible alt text for SEO and screen readers; (3) Image → Prompt — reverse-engineer a text-to-image prompt that could recreate the image.
What image formats are supported?▾
PNG, JPG/JPEG, and WebP. Most common screenshots and photos work.
Which languages can it describe in?▾
English plus 中文, Español, Français, Deutsch, 日本語, Português, हिन्दी — pick the output language before you run it.
How is this different from just asking ChatGPT?▾
It's purpose-built: one click, three structured modes, copy-ready output (especially short+long alt text and clean prompts), language selection, and no login. Faster than prompting a chatbot each time.
How accurate is it?▾
It uses a state-of-the-art vision model and is very reliable for descriptions, alt text, and prompts. Descriptions are inherently interpretive — always review before publishing.
